WE ARE DISAPPOINTED TO ANNOUNCE THAT THE SCOTTISH ACCOUNTANCY AND FINANCIAL TECHNOLOGY AWARDS 2021 HAVE BEEN CANCELLED

Introduction

The Business Insider Scottish Accountancy & Financial Technology Awards recognise the work undertaken by accountants and the rise of fintech businesses and specialisms that play a vital role in ensuring the effectiveness of both private and public sector organisations.

The awards dinner, which is now in its 13th year, attracts over 250 guests, made up of finalists, judges, sponsors, accountants, finance workers and businesspeople.

The prestigious ceremony not only offers numerous networking opportunities throughout but guests also enjoy a three course meal and entertainment.

Award Categories

Small accountancy firm of the year

Accountancy firms with fewer than 50 staff in Scotland. For a firm which has enjoyed an exceptional year in the financial year of 2020 and demonstrated its outstanding achievements. The judges will be looking at a number of areas including leadership, growth, innovation, client service and CSR.

Finance director of the year

Sponsored by ICAEW

The Panel is looking for Finance Directors who have provided significant contribution to the development of their company or organisation and perhaps have made their mark with some special achievements. The organisation must be a head office or a subsidiary but it must be based in Scotland.

Emerging finance director of the year

Candidates for Emerging FD of the year are likely to be showing long term potential in their first FD role, there is no specific age limit. He or she will have contributed significantly to the development of the company or organisation. The organisation must be a head office or a subsidiary but it must be based in Scotland.

Young accountant of the year

Accountants who have qualified within the last five years and who have demonstrated leadership, contributed to strong growth, presented innovative solutions and demonstrated good client service. Entrants should also have entrepreneurial flair and be good team players.

Tax team of the year

For a team which must be client focused and able to present good results for their clients. Innovative solutions will also be considered.

Accountant of the year

Sponsored by Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)

For an outstanding individual in either the private or public sector in Scotland who has made his or her mark in accountancy particularly during the 2020 financial year.

Innovation in Accountancy

Celebrating an outstanding development that transforms accounting practice or processes that has come to the fore over the past year. The innovation could be technology based but needn't necessarily be so.

Emerging FinTech Company of the Year

For a firm which has emerged in the past two years that has 'made waves' over the past year. The judges will be looking at a number of areas including quality of technology, predicted disruptive impact and potential for growth.

Exporting FinTech Company of the Year

The panel is looking for the fintech that has produced the most impact in overseas trade over the past year. The judges will look at the quantity, quality and geographic spread of the sales.

Entry Process

Please register below to enter into the Scottish Accountancy & Financial Technology Awards before Friday 20th August. Once a registration for entry has been submitted, a questionnaire will be sent across via email and must be completed and returned by the closing date Tuesday 24th August.

Judging of the awards is conducted by an independent panel of experts and is extremely thorough. The information provided will be collated and followed by a shortlisting by our panel.

If the nominated company/individual moves forward to the next stage, representatives will be invited to attend an interview in front of our judging panel. Please note that interviews will take place on Wednesday 22nd September and we would appreciate that a representative(s) of the company is available on this date.
